Abstract

The research aimed to identify the relationship between psychological Resilience and mental alertness among students of the University of Yemen in Sana’a، and the correlational descriptive approach was used، and the sample reached (150) students and (150) female students from the University of Yemen in Sana'a، they were randomly selected from various colleges according to university statistics، and the tools used are: Psychological Resilience Scale: consists of 20 items distributed over four areas (emotional ability، social ability، positive orientation for the future، altruism and optimism)، adapted from the study of Al-Sheikh (2018) Mental Alertness scale: consists of 20 items covering four areas (description، observation، alert discrimination، self-regulation of attention)، was prepared by the researchers and verified its validity and stability.

The most important findings of the research are:

  • The level of psychological resilience reached the overall average (2.46)، with the superiority of the areas of "altruism and optimism" (2.63) and "social ability “(2.59)، where the results showed that students have a high level of psychological Resilience.
  • The level of mental alertness of students was average، with a total arithmetic average (2.11).
  • There were no statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the total score of the psychological resilience scale due to the gender variable (males – females).
  • Statistically significant differences were found at the level of (0.05) in the total score of the mental alertness scale in favor of males.
  • Significant differences were also found in the dimension of description only، in favor of males، while the rest of the domains (observation، alert discrimination، self-regulation of attention) did not show statistically significant differences.
  • The relationship between the two variables Pearson's analysis showed a correlation between psychological Resilience and Mental Alertness، suggesting that higher psychological resilience is associated with increased Mental Alertness practice.
  • The results reinforce the idea that (Psychological resilience and Mental Alertness) constitute psychological resources necessary to meet the challenges in the Yemeni university environment.
  • Psychological resilience and Mental Alertness are closely related and can be enhanced through joint training programs.
