Abstract

The study sought to achieve a number of objectives, the most important of which is to determine the role of supply chain management practices in improving the performance of Yemeni pharmaceutical manufacturing companies by demonstrating the role of each of (the relationship with suppliers, internal operations, the relationship with intermediaries, the relationship with customers, and information sharing) in improving the performance of those companies. The study also sought to highlight the most important practices that have the greatest role in improving the performance of the responding companies and to clarify the reality of applying those practices in those companies. The study followed the descriptive and inferential approach based on the philosophical analysis method in presenting the theoretical content of the study from the theoretical framework and previous studies in this field. The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data from the study community of (149) individuals, represented by senior and middle management and specialists in the field of supply chain management in (8) responding companies out of (9) operating companies. The comprehensive inventory method was used, and (149) questionnaires were distributed. 135 questionnaires were retrieved, all of which were valid for analysis. They were analyzed using the SPSS program using a set of statistical methods, such as: frequencies, percentages, averages, testing the validity and reliability of the study, normal distribution, correlation, simple regression, and One Sample T-Test analysis. The study concluded that there is a large application of the dimensions of supply chain management practices in the responding companies at a rate of 75%, where the customer relationship came in first place, then the internal operations and supplier relationship dimensions, then information sharing, and finally the relationship with intermediaries. The results of the study confirmed that these practices play a major role in improving the operational performance of the companies under study, and that 75% of the change in performance is attributed to supply chain management practices, primarily internal operations, then customer relationship, then information sharing. The study recommended that Yemeni pharmaceutical manufacturing companies pay attention to applying supply chain management practices, especially the relationship with intermediaries and information sharing dimensions, due to the relatively weak interest in them, in addition to some internal practices in each dimension.
