Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder among Sana'a University members, according to the variables of gender and profession. The research sample consisted of (150) individuals, who were randomly selected. The researcher built the scale according to the DSM standards. The results showed that the sample members suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder included in the four areas, but with different arithmetic averages and percentages, compared to similar studies in countries that have suffered from conflict and war, as the field of symptoms of re-traumatizing events came in first place, the field of social skills symptoms came in second place, the field of avoidance symptoms came in third place, and the field of arousal symptoms came in fourth place. The research results indicated that there were no differences between males and females in each field, and differences were found according to the profession variable, at a significance level of (0.010) in favor of the university professor and employee in the field of re-experiencing traumatic events, while there were differences at a significance level of (0.020) in the total score for the total areas of the scale, in favor of the university professor and employee. In light of the results, the researcher made recommendations and suggestions.ش
